Sanctuary
Spirituality as the bridge of safety
Welcome to Sanctuary! I’m so excited to share this sacred space with you. Each week, I’ll be sharing spiritual practices, wisdom, how-tos, meditations and more to bring spiritual practice into your everyday.
To start off - we have a definition: liminal space. Liminal space occurs when the "veil is thin" - times of in between. Spirituality both exists in and creates liminal space. Certain holy days like Halloween (known as Samhain in Celtic culture), times of in-between like sunset are a gateway between this plane & the other realm.
The video of the week is this incredible overview by Ram Dass - the Freedom of being Nobody. I’ve heard a similar sentiment when women approach menopause - there is an exhilarating freedom of anonymity
The practice of the week is to make 1 physical area of your life 10% softer. This might mean getting a squatty-potty for your toilet, getting heated blanket for your office, splurging on that bathrobe that’s so soft, you could curl into it for years at a time. It might just mean moving 10% slower throughout your day or actually lighting the candle that’s been sitting on your shelf unlit for most of the year.
And for the introductory video - drum roll please! There will be many more videos on the fundamentals of spiritual practice to come, including how to connect to the elements, how to read tarot, setting up ritual space, interpreting dreams and symbols in general. The next video to come in a few weeks will be on the 4 clair’s - clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance and the most commonly known - clairvoyance. In the meantime, enjoy this introduction to what spiritual practice means to me!
In the wake of the spill in the States that has decimated the ecology in the surrounding area and all of its unknown future impacts, I leave you with a blessing to heal the earth. We invite intention to become motivated action, for laws to change to protect this planet we reside upon, for the animals and plants to be protected from the destruction. For the power of the earth to heal herself.
“Protect the planet and all that reside, animals and humans to stand side by side, bring all into balance and heal with your light, bathe it in beauty in day and at night.”
Slàinte Mhath,
Emma.
